WHO I AM ~ ALICIA

Finding myself Surviving cancer.

I went to hell and came out the other side.

Now I appreciate more things in life, the little things like my cat purring when he's asleep on my lap or bed and the fact that each morning I wake up means I'm still alive to live another day!

At the time I felt defiant, I wasn’t going to let this thing beat me, I had my horses to look forwards to! But to be honest, a lot of the time I was so drugged up on medication I was asleep or tired so don't really remember much apart from wanting to live for my horses.

If I could speak to anyone going through cancer I would say stay positive. Don't curl up in a ball and let it take you out. In Elton John's words 'I'm still standing!'

On the hard days, I’m inspired by my horses and my pets, my mum and dad, my sister and her 2 little girls, I just try to keep positive. Think about what's important to you, set a goal and make it your personal mission to reach it.

I wish people understood that cancer isn't contagious and it's not a death sentence unless you want it to be.

Sarahlee made me believe I can be beautiful again. After losing my hair I've never felt like I can be pretty again. I mean yes I have hair, but nothing like how much I had before all my chemo and radiation treatment.
