To all the wonderful people who contacted me over the last week to send their love after the loss of my Mother-in-Law, Laurel.
Her funeral was filled with stories of her childhood, love, life, and the things she loved most. Personal touches and special moments. Her favourite music and photographs from the last seven decades. Each one inspiring memories and tears.
If you have read these emails for a while, you may have heard me say before, “photography is bittersweet at times.” Because we have the honour of capturing moments of you that will be here when you are gone. We listen to how you want to be seen and endeavour to show you who you are, as you want to be. Not as we think you ‘should be’.
Please don’t spend your life hating being photographed, avoiding the camera, and deleting images. You are worth being remembered. You deserve to have images you are proud to pass on, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll have a fun time too. Because the smiles you see in our portraits are real. We don’t just take photos; we create fun-filled, amazing experiences that are in themselves beautiful memories.
