BEHIND THE SCENES

When we renovated the studio this past summer I relocated my shooting area to the opposite side of the studio.⁠ ⁠ This has had countless unexpected benefits one of which involves this beautiful lighting setup.

I call it the ‘black closed corner’, and it makes my clients feel cocooned and makes both fitness and boudoir shoots pop! 🌟 ⁠ ⁠ Essentially it is a strong key light from the back left corner with an overhead fill from the above and in front of the client. 💡 ⁠

To create this with natural light there is a black velvet backdrop, 2 black polyboards close to either side of the client and another 2 between me and them allowing just enough space to shoot. The only light comes from a 200 mil gap behind and to the left of the client and what is the reflected off the ceiling above the polyboards. The whole set up is as close to the window as possible to get that strong contrast light. ⁠ ⁠
